"If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much."
- Jim Rohn

What is Coaching?

When people hear the word 'coach' they usually think of an Athletic Coach. An Athletic Coach helps a player get better at their particular sport by helping them develop the talent that already lies within them. In many ways, a Coach does the same thing, but in more personal or professional areas of someone’s life.

In athletics, the goal is usually rather clear (ie, run faster, catch the ball, score points, extend your swim stroke, etc). But in life, no one is keeping score. And if they were, what are they even keeping score of?

A Coach is an objective professional that helps you figure out what you really want in your life and helps you create a plan to achieve it.

Who could benefit from a life coach?

If you are willing to grow and any of the following apply to you, you could benefit from the use of a Coach:

  • Realizing there is a gap between where you are and where you want to be

  • Need the motivation to find and/or complete a goal

  • Feeling unfulfilled in one or several aspects of your life

  • Facing a new challenge or obstacle

  • Determining what challenge or obstacle is holding you back

The difference between coaching and therapy

Therapists help you work through things in your past to help you in the present.

A Coach helps you work through things in your present to help create what you want in the future. Life Coaching sessions tend to be more direct and action-oriented with a clear, positive purpose and structure for the session.

Yes, it is possible to work with both a therapist and a Life Coach.

How do I start the process of working with a Coach?

Most Coaches start by offering a 45-minute to 1-hour phone call or Zoom meeting to allow you to get to know each other. Sometimes there is a short assignment to give the Coach an idea of what obstacles you may be facing or to get insight into your goals and priorities.  Click here if you would like to schedule your complimentary strategy session!
